This classic Oaklandish logo starts with the official Oakland tree and then extends it to include the network below the ground; Oakland Roots. Oakland is my home and where my roots are.
Though there is not perfect symmetry in this image, it is clearly a mathematical transformation. At first glance, there are horizontal as well as vertical reflections. However, the organic nature of the top does not actually contain symmetry and the bottom is in fact a rotation of the top.
This other image of the Oaklandish logo uses the same principle of rotation of the words. However, in this version, the tree is a reflection of its opposite end, not a rotation as in the other image. The one end is more degraded, representing either the roots or the branches, depending on which way it is rotated.
